New Release! Item Set Customization and Twitch API Update!

BEEEEEEEG MAJOR UPDATES!

This version of the Cow Girl Vending Machine has 2 major updates, one that should be completely invisible, and one that changes everything visible!

First things first, the back end Twitch API used has been migrated from Twitch PubSub to Twitch EventSub. What does this mean? It means I didn’t realize I was using a deprecated version of the the Twitch API half a year ago. Older versions of the Cow Girl Vending Machine will stop working on April 15th.

The second major change for this version is the Item Set Editing Screen! In the top left corner of the Cow Girl Vending machine there is three buttons. A Gear to change settings, a star to change decorations, and now a notepad for editing the item set!

Along with this update we’re released the Rocks Item Set! Are you tired of cute, adorable, sexy, busty cowgirls? GET ROCKS!

In the coming days I’ll put together a proper tutorial on using the editing menu. Until then, trust me, a programmer, the editing screen is very intuitive. This is a joke. Programmers are notoriously bad at understanding what is intuitive.

A NOTE ON CREATING NEW ITEM SETS This is one function that is, even from my perspective, unintuitive. In the editing menu is a button labeled “create new item set.” This button will clone then current item set with the name entered into the pop up, and change to it. In this way you can delete, change, and create new items. An item set called “template” has been created for the explicit purpose of being as bare bones as possible, to save you the effort of deleting everything. Using the Settings menu to switch to the “template” item set, and creating a new item set from the template is recommended.

Other small changes:

  • The scoreboard previously let names overflow the right side. This has been changed to cut down long names.
  • A new setting has been created called “S.B. Scroll Speed.” This setting changes how fast the scoreboard will scroll through names, measures in lines per second. Higher numbers are faster. More than 3 might be hard to read. Lower than 0.5 might make the scoreboard take forever.
  • A new setting called “Items btw. S.Boards” has been created. This setting is how many items need to be pulled before showing the scoreboard. The default has been set to 5. No matter what the queue must be cleared before showing the scoreboard.
  • Bugs were found with the VM Timeout, and Score Board Timeout values. These have been fixed.
